About Gail's
Gail Spearey owner / manager of Gail's Weight Loss Centre has been in the Weight Management industry since 1984. She was originally a dancer and after discontinuing her dancing her weight kept creeping up. She has had to watch her weight all her life - trying every diet on the market and working for most "Diet" outlets.
In 1994, she realized that dieting DOES NOT WORK and opened her own business to help people lose weight by making lifestyle changes and taking "Diet" out of their vocabulary. When thinking diet, all you think about all day long is what you can or cannot have. This gives a feeling of deprivation and that's why diets fail. There is a reason why we put weight on and if we don't get to the root of the problem, it is like taking an aspirin for a fever. Sure the fever goes down, but once again what we needed was an antibiotic. This applies with weight loss to become weight maintenance.
We must find out what we are feeding - what emotion - boredom - anger - frustration - loneliness - and find a way to deal with it other than with food. At "Gail's", we deal with these issues in a comfortable, confidential one - to - one relationship. We also, once a year do the 12 step program for weight loss. Very simply, this program approaches changing how we think so that we'll feel good naturally. When we feel good, we are not dependent on food, alcohol, drugs or relationships.
We need to think what slim people think. Wanting to put down that piece of cake is not enough. We know if we put it down, we'll feel empty. Our problem is not that we don't have the power to put down the chocolate cake; our problem is that we don't have the power to live with the feelings we're going to have if we don't eat the chocolate cake.
Here at Gail's, we have the program that can help you gain the power. We work on attitude. Sometimes we are so busy we don't realize what our attitude is. Our real goal is not losing weight, or keeping if off, but changing our thinking so that losing weight and keeping it off, becomes as natural to us as gaining weight and keeping it on. It's important that we develop this attitude and then maintain it as we begin to see results. This is where we can help you.

This leads us to a beautiful horizon which is within us and always has been. We help you tear the walls down so that your power within can emerge. "Gail's" is about how we relate with people; how we handle times of challenge, disappointments and failure. Also, how we handle the times of joy and triumph. We help you to understand that success in the program is to measure not only by how much weight we lose physically, but also by how much weight will come off when it no longer serves a purpose in our lives.
Our program is a real food program where we teach you how to eat foods you would buy in a grocery store or a restaurant. We want you to make healthy BEHAVIOURAL changes and not have to cook differently for yourself than your family.
